Day 0 Copenhagen or Montreal Overnight
Day 1 Fly to Nuuk and Embark
Greenland's capital and home to over a third of the country's population, Nuuk is a city where Scandinavian modernity meets deep Inuit heritage. The Old Harbour district preserves the oldest buildings in Greenland, and the National Museum houses the Qilakitsoq mummies — among the most significant archaeological finds in the Arctic world.
Day 2 Evighedsfjord, Greenland
Evighedsfjord, or Eternity Fjord, is a large fjord northeast of Kangaamiut in southwest Greenland, stretching 75 kilometres with several branches and numerous glaciers descending from the Maniitsoq Ice Cap. The fjord has multiple bends, and whenever the ship reaches an apparent end it continues in another direction. The mountains on either side exceed 2,000 metres and the fjord reaches a depth of up to 700 metres.
Day 3 Sisimiut, Greenland
Sisimiut, Greenland's second city and the largest Arctic community in North America, bridges the warmer south and the frozen north of the island. Inhabited for over 4,500 years, the town is known for exceptional dog sledding in winter and for the Sisimiut Museum — a collection of restored buildings tracing the progression from ancient turf houses to modern Inuit art.
Day 4 At Sea
Day 5 Iqaluit, Canada
Iqaluit is the capital of Nunavut, Canada's newest territory, located at the head of Frobisher Bay on southeastern Baffin Island. The Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum and the Nunavut Legislative Assembly Building both house notable collections of Inuit artwork, with prints available for purchase in the museum shop.
Day 6 Lady Franklin Island, Canada
Lady Franklin Island lies off Baffin Island's Hall Peninsula at the entrance to Cumberland Sound, named after the wife of Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin. The island's geology features vertical cliffs of Archean rocks among the oldest stone in Canada. The surrounding waters support abundant seabirds, ducks, seals, and walrus, with Atlantic Puffins and the rare Sabine's Gull possible sightings.
Day 6 Monumental Island, Canada
Named in honour of Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin, Monumental Island rises from the frigid waters of the Davis Strait as a slab of ancient metamorphic rock surrounded by vast icebergs drifting from Greenland. The island is a known polar bear den site, and mother bears with cubs are regularly observed here during the summer months when sea ice retreats.
Day 7 The Lower Savage Islands, Canada
The Lower Savage Islands are a small group off the southeastern tip of Baffin Island, where polar bears are commonly found during summer months as ice retreats with the warming season.
Days 8-9 Torngat Mountains National Park, Canada
Torngat Mountains National Park, at the northern tip of Labrador, preserves one of Canada's most ancient and remote landscapes: granite peaks exceeding 1,600 metres, U-shaped fjord valleys, and rocks among the oldest on Earth. Polar bears swim the fjords, caribou cross the tundra, and the park's Inuktitut name — Tongait — means 'place of spirits', reflecting 9,000 years of Inuit spiritual connection to this land.
Day 10 Hopedale, Canada
Hopedale in Newfoundland and Labrador was originally named Agvituk, the Inuktitut word for Place of Whales, before German Moravian missionaries arrived in 1782 and renamed it. The Hopedale Mission, now a National Historic Site of Canada, is a complex of striking black-and-white German-roofed buildings including a mission house, storehouse, and church. In 2005, Hopedale was established as the legislative centre of Nunatsiavut.
Day 11 Gannet Islands, Canada
The Gannet Islands Ecological Reserve comprises seven islands off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, 25 miles from the nearest mainland settlement, Cartwright. The reserve holds North America's largest razorbill colony and one of its largest Atlantic puffin colonies, alongside thousands of Common Murres, Thick-billed Murres, and Black-legged Kittiwakes. Protected since 1964, access to land is permitted only for scientific study and research.
Day 12 Battle Harbour, Canada
Set on Battle Island off Labrador's southeast coast, isolated Battle Harbour was once the unofficial capital of the region, and a productive salt-cod port in its own right. The 19th-century merchant buildings, where the crews lived and salted and stored the hauls, have been lovingly restored to their former glory, and the settlement is now a National Historic District. Humpback, fin, and minke whales can sometimes be seen passing offshore, along with the drifting icebergs of these remote waters. Battle Harbour earned its mention in explorer lore when Robert Peary gave his first press conference here after claiming the North Pole in 1909.
Day 13 Woody Point, Canada
Woody Point opens onto Gros Morne National Park, whose Tablelands form a landscape so geologically unique that NASA has studied them as an analogue for possible life on Mars. The flat-topped mountains of peridotite rock were brought up from the Earth's mantle by ancient plate tectonics. The UNESCO World Heritage Site preserves the clearest evidence on Earth of continental drift theory.
Day 14 At Sea
Day 15 Halifax, Canada
Halifax, Nova Scotia's capital and Atlantic Canada's largest city, is defined by its bustling harbour and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, through which over a million immigrants entered Canada. The star-shaped Halifax Citadel sits above the city, while Peggy's Cove lighthouse watches over the Atlantic nearby. The maritime museum holds Titanic artifacts and stories; many recovered victims were transported to and buried in Halifax.
